#StopFoodWaste: 13:e protein fights food waste for a sustainable future

In the current environmental landscape, food waste is an urgent and pertinent issue. In Sweden, an estimated 500,000 tons of greenhouse gases are produced each year due to food waste, equivalent to the emissions of 200,000 cars each year.

This statistic becomes even more significant if we expand the perspective to a global level. In 2023 the global total of food waste reached an incredible 1.3 billion tons, with an economic value approaching $1 trillion. This problem goes beyond economic considerations, directly affecting climate change. About 8-10% of global greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions are estimated to come from food waste, underscoring the need for tangible action.

We recently took a significant step toward reducing food waste. We proudly donated a selection of our products to an assisted living facility dedicated to the rehabilitation of people with addiction problems. This initiative not only helped reduce food waste, but also had a tangible impact on the lives of those who received our products.

This action aligns perfectly with our core value, “We Live Green,” which aims to have a positive impact on the environment by reducing our carbon footprint and contributing to a healthier planet and a better future for all.

In this context, 13:e Protein joins the global initiative to pursue the United Nations Sustainable Development Goal 12.3. Through an active contribution to this goal, we seek to unite efforts in the sustainable management of food resources, knowing that our efforts have a positive impact on a global scale.
